Service Award

The NYSWCAA Service Award is given annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to women’s intercollegiate athletics. The committee is currently soliciting names for the 2008 award. Please review the award criteria and fill out the attached Nomination Form and return to Joan Schockow, Committee Chair, by Friday, March 28, 2008.

CRITERIA FOR NYSWCAA SERVICE AWARD

1.         Candidates shall be on or have been on the staff of a member institution.

2.         Candidates shall be or have been an elected officer, committee chairperson, or an active
member of a standing committee or a sports steering committee in the NYSWCAA.

3.         Candidates shall have made a significant contribution to women’s intercollegiate

athletics. Areas of consideration may include:

a:          Leadership in women’s athletics demonstrated through service to a state,
regional or national athletic association in the capacity of an elected officer, committee chairperson, committee member, etc. (ECAC, NAGWS, NAIA, NCAA, etc.).

b.         Service as Championship Director of NYS championships.

c.         Contributor or author of articles or books in the area of competitive sports.

d.         Recognized competence in a particular area of competitive sports as exhibited, for example, by speaking engagements, coaching and/or consultant services.

e.         Involvement (initiate, conduct, or assist) with research as it relates to women’s athletics.

f.          Other significant services, accomplishments, and/or contributions.
